Many people buy new items everyday and that leaves them with the problem of what to do with the old stuff, much of which is still in decent condition. Instead of throwing it away so that it can end up in a landfill, doesn’t it make sense to give others the ability to use these items? This is an excellent option that is very possible.

Goodwill downtown is located at 939 16^th St in San Diego, and has convenient hours. They are open Mon-Sat 9am-8pm; and Sun 9am-6pm, although you must bring donations by 5pm.

They take all kinds of household items including clothing, kitchen and living items, arts and crafts supplies, denim, books both hardbound and paper back, and even vehicles.

While they will do home pick ups for larger items, they greatly appreciate it if you can bring as much into the store itself as you can. They don’t accept all items, and would appreciate a phone call if you are not sure before bring something in you aren’t sure they’ll accept.

They also ask that if you need pick up for larger items that you do not call their local stores, as they won’t be able to help. They have a customer service line specifically for this purpose at 888-446-6394 or 619-225-2200. If you wish to donate vehicles, they must be in running condition and have current CA plates.

If you are looking to get rid of household items, instead of simply throwing them away where they can’t be used again, you should consider bringing them to Goodwill, where they are sure to find new users.
