Recycling Old Toys through Reuse

Information on Toys

Going Green is not just a catchy slogan for people; rather it has become a way of life. People are making decisions to simplify their lifestyle and to recycle as much as possible in order to help preserve the planet and the environment for future generations to come. Most people do not realize that just about everything you own can be recycled in some way. One of the easiest items to recycle is old toys. Children tend to outgrow their toys relatively quickly. Toys are made from a wide variety of different materials that could easily be made into other things. Toys can be made from plastic, metal, or Styrofoam.

Why You Should Recycle Old Toys

Old toys that get thrown in the garbage take a trip to the city dump and basically just pile on top of the other heaps of garbage. Eventually so much trash is dumped in these landfills that they are forced to expand. This expansion is very hard on the surrounding environment and usually ends with a local animal losing its home. Recycling toys helps to cut back on the amount of waste dumped in landfills. Another great reason to recycle toys is that there are many children around the world who might enjoy playing with the toy or that might not have any toys due to economic hardship that could get some use and enjoyment from it.

How to Recycle Old Toys

There are several ways to recycle old toys. One of the best ways to recycle the toys your children no longer play with is to donate them to a non-profit organization or thrift store like the Salvation Army. The store will then put the item up for sale for a very cheap price and some other child can enjoy the toy. Donate the toys to a daycare or local library so that young children can play with them.
